Down below are a list of resources available in the Coastal Bend ranging from counseling resources to shelters. All resources listed down below are available at no cost or on a sliding scale dependent on income.

COUNSELING

If you find yourself needing to speak to someone through one-on-one counseling, here is a list of services available to you in the Coastal Bend:

ACCESS COUNSELING

Access Counseling offers a wide variety of counseling for individuals suffering from mood disorders, those navigating marriage difficulties, and those working through various forms of trauma. Fees for services are determined depending on the client’s insurance deductible. A sliding scale dependent on household gross income will be used to determine total costs for clients without insurance.

 

AMISTAD COMMUNITY HEALTH

Amistad Community Health offers individual and group therapy for individuals with behavioral health needs. Psychiatric services are also available including medication management. Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance plans are accepted. A sliding scale dependent on household gross income will be used to determine total costs for patients without insurance.

 

CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF CORPUS CHRISTI

Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi provide services to those looking to become physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially fulfilled. The program offers counseling for both individuals and families looking for services. The initial session fee is $20.00 with subsequent sessions based on a sliding scale.

 

COASTAL BEND WELLNESS FOUNDATION

The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation offers counseling services to individuals struggling with life challenges. To be referred to a Licensed Professional Counselor, individuals must be a patient of the primary healthcare clinic. The CBWF utilizes a sliding scale for individuals without insurance or for those with high deductibles. 

 

CONNECTIONS INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY SERVICES

Connections Individual and Family Services offers counseling for all ages for both individual and family counseling. Most programs are available to no or minimal cost to clients.

 

NUECES CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities offers a variety of behavioral health services including counseling and providing access to medications. MHID accepts various insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare. Services are available on a sliding scale for those without insurance. No patient is refused treatment due to the inability to pay. 

 

STCH MINISTRIES FAMILY COUNSELING

STCH Ministries offers counseling and guidance to individuals and families. Counseling is provided regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. Donations toward services are accepted and appreciated.

 

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY- CORPUS CHRISTI AND TRAINING CLINIC

The Counseling and Training Clinic offers community members a variety of counseling services that target a multitude of areas such as depression, anxiety, grief, divorce/separation, and much more. Services are provided by counselor trainees and supervised by a licensed professional. All services right now are currently offered via Telehealth. To learn more, visit the link above.

PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATIONS

If you are in need of a medications for a potential mood disorder, the following organizations have services available:

AMISTAD COMMUNITY HEALTH

Amistad Community Health provides psychiatric evaluations, medication assistance therapy, medication management, and general counseling services. Fees for services are determined depending on the client’s insurance deductible. A sliding scale dependent on household gross income will be used to determine total costs for clients without insurance.

 

CORPUS CHRISTI MEDICAL CENTER BAYVIEW

Corpus Christi Medical Center Bayview offers both inpatient and outpatient mental health services. Individual, family, and group therapy is available alongside with medication management. Individuals are assessed to create a treatment plan tailored to his or her needs.

 

NUECES CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

The Adult Mental Health Services Division assists adults 18 years of age and older who are living with mental illness that interfere with daily activities. Treatment plans are individually created for each patient to meet his or her needs. MHID accepts various insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare. Services are available on a sliding scale for those without insurance. No patient is refused treatment due to the inability to pay.

If you are in need of medical services for illnesses or preventive care, here is a list of available organizations:​

AMISTAD COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER

This local community health center utilizes health professionals from various fields to provide all types of health services from women's health to behavioral health. Health insurance is not required and most services are offered free or at a reduced rate depending on certain criteria. 

 

COASTAL BEND WELLNESS FOUNDATION

The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation provides individuals of all different backgrounds a variety of different services. The foundation offers STD testing, breast cancer support, youth programs, drug prevention and addiction resources, as well as many other services. The foundation does not discriminate against race, sex, gender, or ability to pay.

SHELTERS

If you are in need of an emergency shelter, the following shelters are available at little to no cost:

THE PURPLE DOOR

The Purple Door provides a safe space for women and their children after facing domestic abuse or sexual assault. The Purple Door will provide emergency shelter in instances of crisis. This non-profit also works to get mothers and their children the necessities needed for their daily lives. Services are free of charge and confidential.
